New York Steak

  • 4 New York strip steaks (Porterhouse steaks)
  • Salt and pepper to season
  • 1-2 tablespoons olive oil

Creamy Garlic Shrimp

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
  • 8 ounces (250 g) shrimp, deveined, tails on or off
  • 4 cloves garlic (or 1 tablespoon minced garlic)
  • 1/4 cup dry white wine or low-sodium chicken broth
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream (thickened cream)
  • 1/4 cup freshly shredded parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

  1. Season the New York strip steaks generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. Heat 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Once the skillet is hot, add the steaks and sear each side for about 3-4 minutes or until the steaks reach your desired level of doneness.
  4. Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest on a plate loosely covered with foil.
  5. In the same skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter over medium heat.
  6. Add the shrimp and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  7. In the same skillet, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter.
  8. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, until fragrant.
  9. Pour in the dry white wine or chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Allow it to simmer and reduce by half.
  10. Reduce the heat to low, then add the heavy cream and freshly shredded parmesan cheese. Stir continuously until the cheese has melted and the sauce is creamy.
  11. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  12. Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet, tossing them in the creamy garlic sauce. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until everything is heated through.
  13. Place each steak on a plate.
  14. Top with the creamy garlic shrimp.
  15. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley.
