What Are Keto Cookies?

You’ve probably heard the term “keto cookies” before, but besides being a low carb cookie, do you know what else makes these keto chocolate chip cookies approved for the keto diet?

Some people assume that a recipe has to be flourless to be considered keto, but that just isn’t the truth.

Many cookies (like these keto cookies) are made using almond flour and other ingredients that abide by the Macros count and ketosis requirements on the keto diet.

If you have an allergy-related need or are just looking for a different sweetener to vary up the flavor of the dough, brainstorm and see what you like.

I totally understand that there are times when substitutions are needed and it’s important to follow your needs and wants as well.

Flour Substitutes

The good news is that when you’re making keto cookies, you have options for low carb flours. I like to try all of them because it helps me figure out which one I like best.

You’ll find that most keto recipes are pretty specific about the types of flours to use, but just in case you want to know a few flour substitutes that are still keto-friendly, these are the three choices that you can opt to try and use.

  • Almond Flour
  • Coconut Flour
  • Sunflower Seed Flour

Sweetener Substitutes

Just because you’re making a low-carb cookie doesn’t mean that you have to give up on the beautiful sweet taste, right? In fact, dare I say that there are ways to get that “sugar” taste without actually having to use any actual sugar at all?

There are many different sweetener substitutes that you can easily use for these keto cookies, but some of the most popular and top ones to consider are:

  • Granular Sweetener
  • Erythritol
  • Stevia
  • Swerve

Chocolate Substitutes

Let’s not forget about that sweet, sweet chocolate! And yes, these cookies need to have chocolate in them! That’s just part of the tasty fun!

To cut back on the amount of sugar that you’re consuming, consider using these chocolate substitutes to keep these cookies keto-friendly:

  • Dark Chocolate Chips
  • Sugar-Free Chocolate Chips such as Lilys Chocolate Chips

There are actually quite a few options that you can add to these keto cookies to make them healthy for your keto diet. Do your research and choose whatever flavor you like the best.
