“Whenever I have trouble sleeping, I do this and it works really well.” What do you do when you have trouble sleeping?

Being someone who suffers from sleeping problems is not fun. We can end up being rather unhealthy due to late night snacks, prolonged exposure to phone screens or televisions, and even end up stressing way more than usual as well as it taking a major toll on our daily lives.

I noticed that sometimes it was really hard to shut my brain down and force it to stop thinking about things going on in my life.
After enduring the slight insomnia for months, I found out about the “4-7-8″ breathing trick.

What is the “4-7-8″ breathing trick?

It is a method developed by Dr. Weil (a wellness practitioner) It is a way to counteract stress allowing the brain to shut down more quickly.
Simply breathe in through your nose for 4 seconds, Hold it for 7 seconds, and exhale for 8 seconds. Thus the name “4-7-8.” Now inhale again and repeat the cycle three more times for a total of four breaths.
You see this method slows down your heart rate and releases soothing chemicals in your brain.

Did it help?

Yes, it did. This is good for more than just going to sleep though, I’ve noticed it also works well when you are stressed. Because this method does the same thing, it does when we are trying to sleep, slows our heart rates and releases soothing chemicals. Those soothing chemicals relieve stress like a charm.

This relaxing method is the best thing I have tried so far, Use it tonight, and you will be sleeping like a baby in no time!
