Naked Nutrition Review – Oatmeal Raisin Protein Cookie (Recipe Ideas too!)

If you follow a low carb, healthy lifestyle, but miss occasionally indulging in some of your favorite sugary treats, like cookies, there is good news! I recently had the opportunity to try the Oatmeal Raisin Cookie from Naked Nutrition and I was pleasantly surprised.

I break it all down in this article, so read on to get the skinny on these cookies!

This is a sponsored post, but the review and my opinion are all my own. The links are affiliate links and if you make a purchase, I may get a few pennies to help me run my blog.

First, what is Naked Nutrition?

Naked Nutrition is a company that was founded out of necessity by an all-American athlete, Stephen Zieminski. In a pursuit to find the perfect supplements to support a healthier lifestyle, he found that items being marketed as healthy and nutritious were anything but that.

In 2014, he set out to solve that problem when he created, according to their websitefive single ingredient supplements, including the best-selling Naked Whey from California grass-fed cows and Naked Pea Protein from raw yellow peas grown in the USA and Canada. No artificial flavors, colors or sweeteners and no mixing agents.”

The company has since gone from offering supplements to having a line with over 50 products, most of which have 3 ingredients or less. Which brings me to the cookies!

I am always skeptical when it comes any packaged protein shake, cookie or bars. The list of artificial ingredients usually wards me off. When I was contacted about this new protein cookie by Naked Nutrition, looked at the details, I was definitely interested.

I mean, who wouldn’t love having a delicious AND healthy cookie at their fingertips when the cookie craving hits? These cookies have the perfect macros for a snack to be both satisfying in taste and satiating.

Each cookie has 10g of grass-fed whey protein, plus they were soy-fee, Gluten-free, GMO-free, with no high fructose corn syrup.

With only 13 net grams of carbs, that sounded like a great protein snack and would help to support my fitness goals and dietary needs at the same time. But would they taste good? I could not wait to try them!

Naked Nutrition Protein Naked Cookies Review

According to their website, “Oatmeal Raisin Naked Cookie is a quick, healthy, and delicious protein treat for any time of the day. Freshly baked in the USA, gluten-free Naked Cookie is made with defatted almond flour instead of traditional wheat. They are soy-fee, GMO-free, and contain no high fructose corn syrup.”

  • 200 calories
  • 11g of fat
  • 28g total carbs
  • 7g of fiber
  • 5g of sugar
  • 0g added sugar
  • 10g of protein

What are the Key Premium Ingredients in the Oatmeal Raisin Cookies?

  • Whey protein concentrate- Naked Whey is a high quality protein that is completely free of additives and artificial sweeteners.
  • Defatted almond flour– Defatted is fat-reduced almond flour consisting of finely-ground almonds from which the majority of the fat has been extracted by cold-pressing. It is used to reduce the fat of traditional almond flour and it reduces the carbs found in traditional wheat flour.
  • Allulose– This is a natural sugar that shares the same molecular formula as fructose. However, unlike fructose and other sugars, allulose doesn’t raise your blood sugar or insulin levels. This, along with monk fruit juice, a 100% natural sweetener, is used to add sweetness to these cookies.
  • Blanched almond butter– Smoother and lighter in color than traditional almond butter, blanched almond butter gives the cookies a perfect crumbly texture instead being hard and crispy.
  • Rolled Oats – A great source of important vitamins, minerals, fiber and antioxidants, this gluten-free whole grain is among the healthiest grains on earth! Some of the most interesting benefits are weight loss, reduced blood sugar levels and reduced risk of heart disease.

The Verdict

Don’t let all of that health talk make you think these cookies are…”ohhh, one of those”…they do NOT taste like a typical protein bar cookie.

Consistency is one of my #1 tests of a good product, and this protein cookie wins that hands down. They are not the typical thick taffy consistency. These cookies have a very normal “cookie” consistency.

These cookies are truly delightful! They are moist and sweet without that weird cooling effect some artificial sweeteners cause. The consistency of the cookie is great and it even has enough crumbly like texture of a traditional cookie.

The raisins add an element of chewiness and extra natural sweetness. They are a great healthy snack the entire family will love. The only warning I have about these cookies is, they are so good, it is hard to stop at one!

I absolutely love a healthy product that has real ingredients like this cookie has.

Overall, these are really delicious cookies and are a healthy and delicious, sweet treat to satisfy your sweet tooth! Grab a box or two to have ready when the cookie urge strikes!

These cookies are the type of snack I add to my basket in the car for when I am out and about when the hunger strikes.

Recipe Ideas for Naked Nutrition Protein Cookies

These cookies will be a hit, even with the kids. If you have a cookie monster in your house but want to have healthier options than traditional sugary snacks, you can use these cookies to create other healthy treats! Try one of these ideas or use your imagination to come up with new ways to use them.

  • You can add sugar free ice cream (like this healthy Keto Vanilla Ice Cream recipe) to the center of two cookies to make fantastic ice cream sandwiches
  • You can crumble the cookie into fine crumbs and use as a topping for sugar free mousse.
  • Crumble and mix with butter to make a base for no-bake cheesecake.
  • Serve a protein cookie with your favorite Greek yogurt.
  • Are you a cookies and milk fan? Regular vitamin-D full-fat milk is loaded with sugar, but these cookies will go great with a cold glass of almond milk!

My Review In Summary

The bottom line is these cookies are a must-try! They will not disappoint. With zero added sugars and 10 grams of protein, they are better choice for delicious snacks than many other brands on the market.
