A Ridiculously Easy Way You Can Reduce Calories to Lose Weight

Breads, pastries, sweets and pasta. My old typical way of eating. It wasn’t that I didn’t like vegetables, it was more about what was easy to grab on the run or easy to cook. We ate out…a lot. I never even gave calories, certainly not macros much thought until after 40.

When I made the decision to lose weight, I picked up a meal replacement shake to help me with my appetite.

What I didn’t realize at the time, were the other benefits a meal replacement shake offers. Of course, the biggest benefit initially of a meal replacement shake is to reduce calories to lose weight.

Meal replacements or protein shakes as they are often labeled, are an excellent resource for women over 40 who have been unsuccessful at losing weight. A typical diet for weight loss is the CICO method that time and time again proves unsuccessful for women over 40 due to the imbalance of macros.

Protein to Reduce Calories to Lose Weight

As women over 40, the #1 reason previous weight loss tactics aren’t working is a low metabolism. Low metabolism isn’t only due to hormonal change. In fact, you can boost metabolism over 40 with increasing our lean protein and toning muscles that have atrophied in the last 10 years.

You can increase protein two ways. Protein increase by eating lean protein throughout the day with every meal or adding an easy meal replacement or protein shake. I use a combination of both.

This great-tasting weight loss shake is well-balanced with high-quality protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals.

  • Proven effective for weight loss
  • Supports normal, healthy cholesterol and blood sugar levels
  • Fuels lean muscle mass and healthy metabolism

These particular shakes come in a variety of flavors. My favorite is the chocolate.

My teenaged daughter at the time was concerned about me “not eating” at the time because I was sometimes having 2-3 shakes per day. However, it is just like I explained to her at the time, the nutrients I was getting was much better than any vitamins and minerals I would get with my “old” way of eating.

The shakes would not only satisfy my hunger, but it also helped my sugar cravings. The shakes tasted great and often felt like more of a treat than anything else.

At the time, I would eat when I wanted something “real” to eat, and try to have a couple of shakes for meals per day. Never did I feel deprived. Not being hungry, feeling satisfied is the crux of a successful weight loss program.

You can’t lose weight by feeling deprived of food because that isn’t sustainable. Your weight loss journey is unique to you, and while there are specific guidelines to follow, there are ways to adjust them so you can be happy with the changes.

Ultimately, I lost the weight I wanted in a few months by drinking the shakes and exercising.

Meal replacements aren’t for everyone. I still drink a protein shake daily so I can keep my macros balanced by making sure to get enough protein that my body needs.

If you are working to lose weight, give this GNC Lean Shake a try by using it to reduce calories to lose weight.

Making the Most of the Meal Replacement Shake to Reduce Calories to Lose Weight

Here are a few tips for the shakes…

Try adding…
a little almond milk, soy milk, etc to increase creaminess
some crushed ice
a small amount of fruit
PB Powder to chocolate flavor (healthier than regular peanut butter and tastes great)

Use a blender such as this one to help mix completely.

I have found most people who don’t like the taste of the shakes aren’t using these tips. Without making sure the drink is cold or properly shaken or dissolved, it definitely won’t taste very good.

Whatever meal replacement or protein shake you choose, follow these guidelines for ensuring it has the essential ingredients so you aren’t wasting money or time trying to reduce calories to lose weight.
