Best Juicer Blenders and Centrifugal Juicers (Plus Tips)

Juicing can be a very good way to add extra vitamins and nutrients into your diet. It’s also a great way to add some yummy, flavorful fruits and vegetables into your diet. Additionally, adding fresh juice to your diet is a really good alternative to soda and other drinks that could cause a sugar addiction

Making your own juice at home is much different than buying jugs of juice at the supermarket. While the centrifugal juicers are known for better quality juice, we did some research to find the best juicer blender combo as well as some top of the line slow juicers.

You can do that with something that you likely already have and/or need for your kitchen. Any from this list of best juicer blenders are great for making your own juice at home out of your fresh fruits and vegetables.

Best Juicer Blenders

Most blenders can get the job done on your typical blended drink. If you have ever used your blender to make smoothies or other blended drinks, you might think that all blenders are the same. Not all blenders work the same when it comes to juicing though, so it’s good to know how to look for the right one!

You may be well versed in using your blender to make smoothies, but smoothies are the same as juice. It’s a different process to make each of them and they each taste different.

What is the Difference Between Juice and a Smoothie?

Smoothies and juices are both made of fruits and vegetables, but there is a significant difference between the two. Smoothies are full of whole, blended fruits (sometimes with vegetables). Juice is simply the juice from the fruits. Smoothies are a thicker consistency, with juice often being the same consistency as water.

Why To Use a Blender Instead of a Juicer?

You may be wondering why someone would choose to use a blender as opposed to a juicer. There are definitely benefits of each machine, but both can work for your juicing goals. However, if you are more inclined to use the blender, there are several reasons it could make sense to use a blender instead of a juicer to make your own juice at home.

It Takes Less Space

Not everyone has unlimited counter or cabinet space, but most people do have a blender in their home. It’s nice to use an appliance that you already have as opposed to bringing in new kitchen appliances into your home that will take up additional space. Blenders, in general, are quite compact so they are easy to store in a cabinet or push to the corner of your counter to keep it out of the way.

You Already Have It

As we already mentioned, you probably already have a blender on hand, maybe even one of the ones we mentioned below. No need to go out and buy something that you already have. This makes using a blender as a juicer the ideal solution for anyone that doesn’t have the budget to go out and buy a new machine.

Easier Cleanup

Sometimes juicers require a lot of clean-up work. With many attachments and accessories, they are sometimes difficult to clean and not all of them are dishwasher safe. In many reviews of various juicers you’ll see complaints of the difficulty of cleaning, but blenders are not quite as difficult in that respect.  Many times you just pull the blades out and put them and the pitcher into the dishwasher and you are done.

How to Make Juice with a Blender

Even though most people make juice with a juicer, it can be done with a blender. If you have a blender that works well for juicing, follow the steps below.

Step 1: Prepare Your Fruits and Vegetables

To start your juicing with a blender journey, you can begin by rinsing your fruits and vegetables under cold, running water and then dry them with a kitchen towel or paper towel. Peel or cut off the skin of the fruit/vegetable and cut into cubes. Aim for cubes that are ½ to 1 inch. Be sure to remove all seeds and cores. For citrus or juicy fruits, cut them in half and then squeeze the juice into a bowl.

Step 2: Add Water or Juice (If needed)

In some situations, when making juice with a blender you’ll need to add a bit of water. Sometimes, depending on the fruit, this step is not necessary. If you are using fruits with high water content (watermelon, plums, etc), you will not need to add water to the blender.

If you have a powerful blender that is capable of extracting more of the juice from the produce, you will not need to add water.

If you have citrus juice set aside, you will not need to add water, or you will at least have to add less water.

If you are making juice with harder fruits and vegetables, you can expect to add up to 2 cups of water with a blender full of the fruits and/or vegetables.

Step 3: Blend

Now that you have everything prepared and ready in the blender, it’s time to blend it up. Turn on the blender and blend for 1-2 minutes. Feel free to use the pulse option if you need a little extra blending at the end.

Step 4: Strain

You are using pieces of fruit to make the juice, which means that there will be a lot of pulp included. While it’s possible to use a strainer, using a cheesecloth to do this tends to get rid of more of the pulp. This step adds a little bit more work than if you were using a juicer, but it’s much easier than you might think!

What is the Best Produce for Juicing in a Blender?

There are so many different fruits and vegetables that make delicious juices! While some of them are easier than others, you can juice many, many different fruits and vegetables.

There are also many different combinations of produce that taste amazing together. Be sure to try different fruits and/or fruits and vegetables together.

Here are some of the best fruits and vegetables for making homemade juice:

Leafy Greens

Leafy greens are great for juice because they add lots of nutrients, and they are very easy to blend. Many people also add herbs (like mint) to their juice for added flavor.

Soft Fruits

Soft fruits such as citrus (oranges, grapefruits, lemons), mangos, peaches, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, etc. have a great water content which makes them an excellent option for juice. With these types of fruits, you rarely have to add much water to the mixture in order for your juice to turn out just right.

Any Other Produce You Want to Make Juice Out Of

Honestly, you can juice most fruits and vegetables, so go ahead and try whatever produce you want! Anything you can imagine tasting in juice, feel free to try it! With harder produce (apples, carrots, celery, etc.) just make sure to blend it longer to get the mixture as smooth and liquid as possible.

What are the Health Benefits of Juicing

Do you know anyone who goes on and on about how great juicing is? Have you seen social media posts about how great juice is? Okay, so you know that you should be juicing for your health, but you don’t know why. The truth is, juicing is a fantastic way to give your body a high amount of quality nutrition packed into a delicious drink.

Juicing is Easier to Digest

Almost all of the nutritional benefits of juice go straight into your system, since juice requires very little digestion. The fact that consuming fresh juice requires such a small amount of digestion is also beneficial for those who tend to deal with digestion issues.

Higher quality Nutrients

Because when you juice, you’ll be using more of the fruits and vegetables that you would typically eat in a setting. This means that you will be packing in a lot more nutrients, vitamins and minerals than you would typically get.

Improved Heart Health

Drinking freshly made juice gives you an abundance of antioxidant vitamins C and E, which are both helpful in lowering your triglyceride levels and keeping your blood flowing.

Other nutrients that you’ll find yourself getting a lot of are Potassium and magnesium, which are both great for heart function and heart health.

Healthy Eyes, Skin, Hair and Nails

Vitamins C and E are both great for helping to prevent skin damage from the sun. At the same time, a deficiency in some of these nutrients (specifically B vitamins) can cause skin and hair issues such as cracked lips, dermatitis and oily skin, so you definitely do not want to be deficient.

Carrots and other orange colored produce are among the only ways that you can get beta-carotene which is beneficial for eye health.

Increased Energy

Lots of juicing means more vitamins. More vitamins mean more energy and better health. Better health means more energy.

Stronger Immune System

More vitamins means a stronger immune system! The antioxidants and vitamins that come with juicing help you to build a strong immune system that helps keep you going healthy and strong all year long.

How to Store Homemade Juice

Making your own juice isn’t like buying a container of juice at the store, so you may be worried about knowing how to store it. To store juice that you have made in a blender, you can store it in a lidded pitcher or container in the refrigerator for 3 to 5 days.

Choosing the Right Juicer Blender

Now that you know all about making juice in a blender, you are probably ready to figure out what blender to choose for blending. Here are some of the best juicer blenders that we have found:

Oster Pro 1200 Blender

Let’s start with the most budget friendly juicer blender. The Oster Pro 1200 Blender is perfect for those who don’t have a lot of money to throw toward a blender, but still want a good machine that will make great juice.

This Oster Blender has a 1200 watt motor model with three manual speed settings and 3 preset buttons, and according to reviews does a great job juicing leafy greens and softer produce. The blades are not as durable and strong as the blades in other blenders on this list, but the machine does come with a 10 year warranty (drive) and 3 year satisfaction guarantee.

Ninja BL770

One of the best juicer blenders out there is the Ninja BL770 Mega Kitchen System. This Ninja blender has a 1500 watt powerful motor that can handle juicing just about any produce. The stainless steel blades are notoriously sharp, which makes them a little more difficult to clean than other blenders (this is very true, so be sure to be very careful with these blades). The sharpness of these blades is one of the reasons why this blender is so good for juicing. It comes with multiple speed settings as well as a pulse option.

This particular model comes with multiple blade assemblies, a pitcher, a bowl and even a couple of travel cups with lids. The machine is easy to use with straight forward, dedicated buttons that make juicing even easier.

Many users of this blender use it for hot soups, great smoothies, baby food and just about anything else they would need to blend. Many people even use this one in place of a food processor. If you look up reviews, you’ll find that many people claim that this is the best blender they have used.

This blender is decently priced so it’s good for those on a budget and it comes with a one-year warranty.

Cuisinart Hurricane Juicing Blender

This blender is compact, lightweight and low-cost. It is not as powerful or durable as the other blenders we have discussed here already, but if you are looking to juice just softer produce it will work fine.

This blender also has a smaller capacity than others so you can’t make a large amount of juice at once. Again, this one definitely has some drawbacks, but if you are looking for a blender for basic juicing in smaller quantities it works great.

NutriBullet Blender

The NutriBullet is a brand name that most of us have heard before and for good reason. They are great machines. The NutriBullet Full Size Blender is great for juicing because it is 1200 watts and has multiple speeds, a pulse option as well as extraction capabilities. This is a perfect blender for juicing fruits and vegetables.

In addition to the full sized blender, NutriBullet also makes awesome personal blenders that are perfect for juicing on the go.

Vitamix 1782 Blender

If a high-end blender is what you are looking for, the Vitamix 1782 Blender is the perfect choice. While the price tag on this blender is a big high, it has features and technology that justify the cost. It’s a heavy, durable blender that comes with 2 speeds and an easy-to-use interface.

The Vitamix is equipped with thermal protection and a cooling fan so you can be sure it won’t overheat while you are juicing difficult, harder produce. That type of produce makes the machine work harder, so with less durable machines, you might find that they overheat. You won’t find those types of issues with the Vitamix.

This model comes with a 5 year all-inclusive warranty.

Blendtec Total Classic Blender

Another juicer blender that is on the high end price side is the Blendtec Total Classic Blender. This model is more lightweight than others and offers 10 different speeds, pulse option and even has a 1560 watt motor! While this isn’t our favorite blender on the list, the self-cleaning function is pretty great.

While the blade and accessories on this model are seemingly not as durable as on some of the others, it does come with a solid eight year warranty.

Shark Ninja Auto IQ Blender

Looking for a high-end, high-tech blender? The Shark Ninja Auto IQ Blender is a great option. Take note though that is very heavy and it is a little more complicated to use. Before you jump into juicing with this Shark blender, make sure to spend some time getting used to the specifics and learning how to use it, but with the technology comes convenience, which is a plus.

This model weighs almost 20 pounds and has a 1500 watt motor. It has well designed blades and enough power to easily juice any produce you would like.

While the features on this are great and convenient and Shark offers a one year basic warranty, you may find that this blender is out of your price range.

Non Blender Juicers

Now it’s time to look at non blender juicers.

Traditional juicers are a great option over blenders for those who prefer no pulp in their juice and who have plenty of counter space to use and cabinet space to store them.

Once you start your juicer shopping journey, you’ll learn that there are multiple types of juicers to choose from. There are centrifugal juicers, masticating juicers, and citrus juicers. If you are wondering about the difference in these juicers, it is all in the way they break down the produce that you put inside of them.

Centrifugal Juicer

Centrifugal juicers have a single blade that rotates at a very high speed. This slices and dices the food, which allows the juice to flow out of the produce. This is very similar to how a blender works to produce juice from fruits and vegetables.

One of the best benefits of centrifugal juicers is that they require less prep time than other juicers. With this type of juicer, you can juice large chunks of fruits and/or vegetables and sometimes even whole produce can be placed inside.

The downside to centrifugal juicers is that they tend to create more food waste than the other types. They are not able to break down the food as well as masticating juicers since they chop through the fruits or vegetables as opposed to using a squeezing motion.

Masticating Juicer

Masticating juicers use gears instead of blades to grind the food and produce the juice this way. Some masticating juicers grind food between one gear and a hard surface, while others grind food between two gears. This is the most healthiest and best juicers to use.

Citrus Juicer

Citrus Juicers don’t grind or cut or dice the food. Instead, they produce juice out of the citrus by spinning reamers into the fruit. These types of juicers are the least healthy of all due to the amount of juice left in the waste.

Bottom Line…

Whether you are juicing for weight loss or juicing for health, investing in an appliance that can juice while preserving the most nutrients and producing the most juice will be worth it.
